A bouncer at Spire Night Club was shot in the arm early Saturday during a dispute with a patron, police said.

The shooting happened shortly after 1 a.m. at the club located at 900 Jefferson Street in downtown Houston, said Commander Matthew May of the Houston Police Department.

Investigators believe a man shot the bouncer after the bouncer stopped him from going through a door he wasn’t supposed to use, May said.

The club was full at the time of the shooting and people ran outside when the shot rang out, May said.

Police are searching for the shooter, who fled and has not been apprehended.

The bouncer was taken to a hospital in stable condition.
